The Isle of Man has its own parliament called Tynwald. Tynwald is of Norse origin and over 1000 years old, the oldest parliament in the world. Every year there is an outdoor sitting of Tynwald in St Johns on the 5th July. What is considered to be the original site for the outdoor sitting of Tynwald is situated at the geographical centre of the island, just North of St Lukes Church, East Baldwin.
In June each year the famous TT races take place. Braddan Bridge and Union Mills are both good places to watch the races, about 3.5/4km from The Coach House. The Railway Pub is also at Union Mills.
It is about 2.5km to the nearest corner shop at Strang x roads, approximately four minutes in the car. The nearest bus stop is also at the Strang. However, we would recommend that a car is essential if you're staying at The Coach House in order to make the most of your holiday.
